The head of the river Bride is a spring that filters through a gravel bed and bubbles into a lake at Little Bredy, a small village at the beginning of the Bride Valley. It is a tranquil and idyllic spot, a wide shallow lake, with a sandy bottom and blooms of algae, which leads onto a waterfall. Near the lake is a cluster of ancient larch trees, which is the reason that I was drawn to explore the location.
