Vermeer 21 Fistral
Medium: glass, timber
Dimensions in mm: 1200 x 1200 x 90
Vermeer are a series of curved reliefs whose reflective glass surface refracts the environment so that the viewer’s perception switches between examining the image and the reflection. A painted response with glass enamels which are fired onto glass, cut up and collaged onto a curved timber frame which emphasizes the pixilated image. It is a system which questions what we see and how we see.
Fistral is the Cornish beach with green waters and black granite cliffs that inspired this piece commissioned by the Garden Gallery for a private home. 2020
